Shine The Light
Harvest Bible Fellowship
"In the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world
..."
Philippians 2:15
The call to stand up and out for Jesus Christ has drawn Harvest youth and leadership across Ontario to unite together as the
Harvest Youth Coalition
.
With seven of our North American Harvest Bible Chapels located in Ontario, Canada, youth leaders had it on their hearts to gather and create more opportunities for their respective student groups to interconnect. Through much prayer and careful planning, the Harvest Youth Coalition was born
—and their recent cross-church "
Shine The Light
" was an event like no other for this young, unified group of disciples.
Harvest Oakville
provided an ideal setting for Shine The Light, a one-night youth event where Jesus Christ was lifted high, His Word was preached, and fellowship was strengthened among the 225 students, leaders, and parents that assembled.
(For a video taste, check out the Shine The Light page at
HarvestYouth.ca
.)
"Worship was incredible as Joshua Seller and the Harvest Oakville team led us. It's such a huge blessing to see that many students praising God with hands held high.
Ted Duncan
(Senior Pastor of
Harvest Brampton
) brought the Word as he challenged us to shine as lights from Philippians 2. Bibles were opened, and hearts and minds were attentive as we were moved to take a stand for Jesus in our broken world," shared a fired-up Mike Armstrong, Student Ministry director of
Harvest Barrie
.
Built into the agenda was "a ton of fun" with games like 'chowling' (church-aisle bowling), Sphere Evasion, and a version of Huckle Buckle that was "not for the faint of heart." Leaders and parents were grateful for their own cafe area to recharge for the drive home.
"The night concluded with each student being given glow sticks to wave as we sang a rocked out version of 'This Little Light of Mine'...God was so good to bless our time and encourage our hearts. The feedback has been unanimous: Let's do it again!"
And we rejoice, for as Jesus said in John 17:23, it is by such unity "that the world may know..."
This Coalition is working on just that, so keep watching
