Planting & Replanting FAQ's

How can we start a Harvest Bible Chapel?
How can my church become a Harvest Bible Chapel?
Can my church be affiliated with Harvest Bible Fellowship and still keep our own name?

By developing a core group and connecting with Harvest Bible Fellowship. The first step in starting or planting a Harvest begins with the development of a like-minded core group—and it has been our privilege to partner with well over thirty such groups since 2002.

Typically, a core group begins with four to six couples who share a passion to see a life-giving church established in their community. These individuals long to see a local church committed to the same four pillars we are passionate about:
    • Proclaiming the authority of God's Word without apology. 2 Timothy 4:2
    • Lifting high the Lord Jesus in worship. John 4:24
    • Believing firmly in the power of prayer. Ephesians 6:18
    • Sharing the good news of Jesus with boldness. Ephesians 6:19-20
Group members must possess a willingness to work hard, make sacrifices, trust God for His leading and provision, and come under the leadership of Harvest Bible Fellowship.

Q: How can my church become a Harvest Bible Chapel?

Contact Harvest Bible Fellowship to discuss transitioning into a Harvest. When we began planting churches in 2000, the Fellowship did not anticipate that existing churches would have a desire to transition into Harvest Bible Chapels. Yet, as of Spring 2008, we have had the privilege and opportunity to transition ten such churches.

Potential church transitions all follow the same process:
    • The leaders of the existing church resonate with the doctrine and core values of Harvest.
    • They believe, for various reasons, that it is in their interest to transition.
    • After approaching the leaders of Harvest Bible Fellowship, meetings are scheduled to consider the viability and wisdom of the transition.
    • Assessment tools are utilized to bring clarity to the decision-making process.
    • Upon the recommendation of the Executive Director of the Harvest Bible Fellowship and approval of the Elders Council, a church is approved to transition into a Harvest Bible Chapel.
    • A detailed timeline is implemented to prepare a church for its first public worship service as a Harvest Bible Chapel.

Q: Can my church be affiliated with Harvest Bible Fellowship and still keep our own name?

Yes, as a Harvest Affiliate. Affiliate churches hold to the core and crucial doctrines of the Christian faith as defined in Harvest Bible Fellowship's Principles of Doctrine, Government and Practice for Affiliate Churches, but do not carry the Harvest Bible Chapel name.
